Bird Dog
The Bird Dog is a common physical therapy exercise, especially for people with lower back pain. It strengthens the stabilizing muscles of the abdominal wall, in other words, your core. We believe that it is worth doing even outside a physical therapy setting.
We do a variation of the Bird Dog in which we pulse the working leg up and down. These pulses create a perturbation which requires the stabilizing muscles to work harder. Keep the working leg straight.
You notice one foot is off the edge of the table. This is deliberate. It helps make the exercise more comfortable for many people.
