Roll Ups

This exercise comes directly from the Pilates roll up. It is an exercise for the deep abdominal, the Transversus Abdominis.

We bring to the table a couple innovations. We do the roll ups with our feet of the edge of a table, which allows us to hang a sandbag over the ankles. A sandbag on the ankles actually makes the exercise easier for beginners. We have also found that a foam roller gives some nice proprioceptive feedback.

Finally, getting onto our stretching table is much more convenient that laying on the floor. This may not seem like a big difference. However, at Activelab we incorporate this kind of convenience in numerous ways. All together, these little conveniences add up to a better flow in your exercise experience.
