Standing Crunch

The standing crunch is an exercise for the deep abdominal, the Transversus Abdominis (TA). The Transversus Abdominis wraps around your abdomen like a corset.

This isn’t necessarily the most strenuous crunch you can do. The real advantage of this exercise is that it is a great tool for teaching people selective activation of the TA. Selective activation is the ability to activate a specific muscle. Selective activation of the Transversus Abdominis does not come easily to most people. The standing crunch can facilitate learning this skill.

Another advantage of the standing crunch is convenience. With floor cunches you have to get down on the floor. But with this apparatus you can just walk up to it and start.
